"Sapienza" as urban cure

Universities are the right places to promote active and healthy lifestyles.
First of all because they involve many people: in 2025 the number of registered students in the world will reach 262 million students. Therefore, universities and research institutes are the main promoters of studies on these issues.
Sapienza - University of Rome is the biggest university in Europe with 129,500 students and its structures are located in the districts of San Lorenzo, Nomentano, Flaminio and other city areas. This University is attended every day by a large number of people and is characterized by multiple logistical criticalities; therefore, it represents an interesting case study to propose systemic actions in the roman urban area and also to think about the relationships between the building system and green infrastructures.
The care of the landscape city

The urban area of the Venice mainland was born on the model of the "garden city" and is bordered as follows: on east and south, from the industrial areas and from Porto Marghera;on the westside by the area of large-scale commercial distribution built at the edge of the Romea; on the north by the railway tracks.
The research wants to investigate the state of "environmental and urban health" of Marghera to identify potential "cures" able to restore the relationship between the borders and the surrounding water landscapes.
Lagoon edges are connections with the insular Venice and spaces for a new green and blue infrastructure through slow paths, parks, architecture and shared spaces able to valorize a potential 'city-landscape' between the Lagoon and the river Brenta Riviera.

Nature and artifice in the public space for urban well beings

The city between the Park of Capodimonte and the ParK of the Hills includes diversified peripheric areas. On the north side, the districts of Piscinola and Scampia, strategically located in relation with the railway and airport infrastructures, are an "emblematic centrality" thanks to the presence of compromised residual spaces. Southern, the districts of Materdei and Sanità - on the edge of the historic city - receive the neighboring parks and represent a "periphery in the center".
In the middle, there's the district of Colli Aminei, nestled between the two parks but separated from the adjacent hospital area. The research wants to investigate the potential connections through greenways involving complex social realities, to systematize the resources and to improve life conditions.
